Strolling around the Kusaka river pond

Tour of nature observation such as birds, plants, and dragonflies

Strolling around the Kusaka river pond

The Kusaka River Regulating Pond (Medaka Pond), located a 30-minute drive from Kochi City, is one of the largest wetlands in Kochi Prefecture. It was created as a flood control pond. It nurtures a rich ecosystem and is home to valuable plants, wild birds and dragonflies.
In spring and autumn, you can observe mainly plants (plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, higanbana, and aquatic plants such as foot flowers and coleoptera), in summer over 30 species of dragonflies, and in winter wild birds such as ducks that come to the area to overwinter. There are also many small birds that congregate near the water.
Guides will give you easy-to-understand explanations as you walk around the pond.
Why not spend some time relaxing and enjoying the richness of nature?
