[Observing wild birds around Medaka Pond] Medaka Pond (Kusaka River Regulating Pond), located about 30 minutes by car from Kochi City, is a 14-hectare pond (3 times the size of Tokyo Dome!) that protects Hidaka Village from flood damage. It is one of the largest wetlands in Kochi Prefecture and is a treasure trove of wildlife such as wetland plants and aquatic insects.
